Technically difficult because of deep location of hip joint
Lower morbidity than open arthrotomy with easier post-operative course
Requires traction in line with the femoral neck

mechanical symptoms

Contraindications
advanced DJD
hip ankylosis
joint contracture
severe osteoporotic bone
significant protrusio acetabuli
