  • A benign proliferative disorder characterized by fascial nodules and contractures of the hand

  • Patients come for decreased ROM and pain over nodules

  • more frequent and more severe in men

  • location : ring > small > middle > index

  • Treatment

    • Range of motion exercises

    • injection of Clostridium histolyticum collagenase (Xiaflex), especially in MCP cords

    • needle aponeurotomy. For mild contractures (at the MCP > PIP)

    • surgical resection/fasciectomy.

      • MCP flexion contractures > 30°

      • PIP flexion contractures 

      • painful nodules are not an indication for surgery

  • Complications

    • digital ischemia

    • skin necrosis

    • hematoma

    • infection
