Golfer’s elbow

 
  • Also known as medial epicondylitis.

  • Overuse syndrome of the flexor-pronator mass origin.

  • Less common than lateral epicondylitis

  • Associated conditions : ulnar neuropathy, ulnar collateral ligament insufficiency ( check for valgus instability)

  • Symptoms

    • insidious onset pain over medial epicondyle , worse with wrist and forearm motion , worse with gripping

    • tenderness 5-10 mm distal and anterior to medial epicondyle

    • soft tissue swelling and warmth if inflammation present

  • Conservative treatment: Activity modification, ice, NSAIDS, physicial therapy, extracorporeal chock wave therapy, steroids injection

  • Surgivcal ttreatment : Open debridement and reattachment of flexor-pronator mass after 6 months of failed conservative treatment
